Experimental investigation of a cascaded organic Rankine cycle plant for the utilization of waste heat at high and low temperature levels
A power plant with two cascaded organic Rankine cycles (CORC) to exploit waste heat from a 800 kWe combined heat and power plant, fueled by biogas, is designed and tested. Heat from the exhaust gas is utilized with a high temperature organic Rankine cycle (HT-ORC), where toluene is employed as a working fluid. The heat discharged from the HT-ORC as well as heat from the engine coolant and additional heat from the exhaust gas is supplied to a low temperature ORC (LT-ORC) with the working fluid Solkatherm SES36. The design of the CORC and the selection of working fluids is presented, aiming at a maximum plant efficiency, but also complying with environmental, safety and practical issues. Furthermore, plant components and construction details are described. After manufacturing, initial tests are carried out, obtaining thermodynamic conditions that are close to the design of the HT-ORC, where a maximum electrical turbo-generator output of 17.5 kW is measured. The cascading of the low temperature heat sources and the transfer to the LT-ORC is shown as well as the basic operation of the LT-ORC. However, several problems occurred, such as a turbo-generator damage in the HT-ORC, a too high condensation pressure and a low working fluid mass flow rate in the LT-ORC, which are discussed together with proposed optimization measures

The Quantum Entropy Cone near its Apex
Relations among von Neumann entropies of different parts of an -partite
quantum system have direct impact on our understanding of diverse situations
ranging from spin systems to quantum coding theory and black holes. Best
formulated in terms of the set of possible vectors comprising the
entropies of the whole and its parts, the famous strong subaddivity inequality
constrains its closure , which is a convex cone. Further
homogeneous constrained inequalities are also known.
In this work we provide (non-homogeneous) inequalities that constrain
near the apex (the vector of zero entropies) of
, in particular showing that is not a cone
for . Our inequalities apply to vectors with certain entropy
constraints saturated and, in particular, they show that while it is always
possible to up-scale an entropy vector to arbitrary integer multiples it is not
always possible to down-scale it to arbitrarily small size, thus answering a
question posed by A. Winter. Relations of our work to topological materials,
entanglement theory, and quantum cryptography are discussed.Comment: 8 pages, 2 figure
Transition from van-der-Waals to H Bonds dominated Interaction in n-Propanol physisorbed on Graphite
Multilayer sorption isotherms of 1-propanol on graphite have been measured by
means of high-resolution ellipsometry within the liquid regime of the adsorbed
film for temperatures ranging from 180 to 260 K. In the first three monolayers
the molecules are oriented parallel to the substrate and the growth is roughly
consistent with the Frenkel-Halsey-Hill-model (FHH) that is obeyed in
van-der-Waals systems on strong substrates. The condensation of the fourth and
higher layers is delayed with respect to the FHH-model. The fourth layer is
actually a bilayer. Furthermore there is indication of a wetting transition.
The results are interpreted in terms of hydrogen-bridge bonding within and
between the layers.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
Chatbot Introduction and Operation in Enterprises – A Design Science Research-based Structured Procedure Model for Chatbot Projects
Chatbot research has become an emerging research area. Researchers survey the technology behind and the whole ecosystem from different perspectives, e.g., human-computer interaction, design research, or anthropomorphism. To foster the transfer from research to practice, a comprehensive structured procedure model is missing yet. Due to this, the transfer of the research results into real-world settings in enterprises is often complicated. Hereto, we propose a comprehensive structured procedure model to guide practitioners in chatbot projects based on a Design Science Research study. In doing so, necessary project steps are pointed out and corresponding research results are highlighted to make them reusable for practice in a targeted manner. Thus, we provide structured support for chatbot projects in enterprises
